A modest looking maiden hurdle and it’s a race well within the capabilities of BHEAN SAIBHRE (best price 9-2) if connections are willing to roll the dice again after an unlucky run on the Flat here last night.
Strongly fancied to break her duck despite the competitive nature of the contest, she fell foul of so many at the Mayo venue 24 hours ago, caught up in the backwash when the main players were kicking off the front.
Despite facing this almost impossible task to come from off the pace, she stayed on powerfully once out in the clear to finish an agonising second to the positively ridden Steps In The Sand and it was a performance to suggest she remains to top form (pair nine lengths clear of the rest).
Prior to that excellent display, she was even more unfortunate at Roscommon when unseating her rider at the second last whilst seemingly cantering in the lead and a similarly positive ride like she received on that occasion will make Aidan Howard’s filly difficult to catch around today’s sharp track.

LOUGHRASK RAINBOW (best price 7-1) hasn’t had the rub of the green on his last two starts and he is afforded another chance to back up the view he remains a well handicapped horse.
At Sligo two runs ago, he was set a stiff task with a circuit to go but to his great credit he almost pulled off the impossible and on his latest outing at Tipperary it was simply the case of an ill-judged ride.
Stone last heading down the back straight for the final time at the Limerick Junction venue, he ran into a pile of horses dropping back in his lap at crucial stages and with the main players kicking off the front in a slowly run race, he was never likely to make up the thick end of 20 lengths.
He did, however, keep on in game fashion in the latter stages to salvage something from the wreckage and providing his pilot doesn’t sleepwalk his way through the first part of tonight’s contest, his mount has a better chance of delivering the goods than his morning odds/form figures suggest.
