DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 29
2.39 DOWN ROYAL
BILLIE FRECHETTE (NAP) (best price 9-4) must make the adjustment from racing beyond two miles back to 1m5f here this afternoon, but Noel Meade’s filly is a C&D winner in the past and hopefully she will have the necessary requirements to right the wrongs for what happened to her here last time out.
Strongly fancied to land the Ulster Cesarewitch early this month, the four-year-old filly was noted travelled extremely well coming down the hill to the two-furlong pole but from that juncture she never received any room to extricate herself out of the pocket she found herself in.
Eventually, she did get out, but by then the winner had flown and given the way she finished off her race, it was easy to draw to the conclusion she would have won comfortably with a clear passage.
On the evidence of that display and her previous success at the Co Down venue, she clearly loves today’s galloping track and with the strong possibility she remains on a very handy mark, it will be slightly disappointing if she fails in her bid to back up that view.
