DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
SUNDAY JANUARY 25
3.25 NAAS
FLICKER OF HOPE is a novice chaser going places fast and the smart choice is to keep Mark Fahey’s gelding on side in his bid to supplement his recent C&D gains.
The seven-year-old had scored in gritty fashion the time before at Fairyhouse and thoroughly deserved a crack at something more substantial on his next outing but what he produced at the Kildare venue was way beyond expectations.
Up against the strongly fancied Kurasso Blue and progressive Bossofthebrownies, the son of Buck’s Boum beat them both decisively with seemingly no excuses from the vanquished and the data backed up the visually impression of his display too (very good speed figure).
Just as he had done over hurdles, he relished the step up to three miles and with similar conditions to what he faced 16 days ago in place, a return to his biggest success to date can prove a valuable advantage over the rest of the field (the only C&D winner in the field).
FLICKER OF HOPE – 1-point win@2-1
