DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 6

3.52 WOLVERHAMPTON

Marra Donna looks like it has been plotted up to do much better in handicaps by shrewd connections and judged by the early market activity, the green light has been given for Ollie Sangster’s gelding to show his true worth on his first outing in this discipline.

However, odds around the 5-4 mark do appear plenty short enough and better value may lie at the feet of TAFAH, who caught the eye with an encouraging effort here last time out.

Dwelling leaving the stalls at the Dunstall venue 25 days ago, the son of Dark Angel made up the lost ground to race on the heels of the leaders turning for home but just when he was getting up a head of steam to challenge inside the final furlong, he ran out of racing room at a crucial stage.

Whether he would have won or not with a clear run is open for debate but either way, the form of his performance has been boosted by the winner and third since (both won) and he still gets to race off the same mark on his return visit.

Moreover, the way he hit the line strongly hinted that a step up in trip would suit and from a decent draw, a better break than last time can hopefully lead to Tony Carroll’s inmate outrunning his odds.

TAFAH – ½ point each-way@18-1 (four places)
