DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
SUNDAY MARCH 1
It can’t be just a coincidence that DJ PETE has run his best two races in his career over today’s course and following his breakthrough success here nine days ago (first win in 15 starts), Sarah Jayne-Davies’ inmate can go in again if in the same mood.
The eight-year-old first showed a liking to the Welsh venue when chasing home the progressive Jaipaletemps (now rated 117) over the C&D back in November and on his return visit three months later, he managed to go one place better, defeating the in-form El Rojo Grande who was in search of a four-timer.
Showing good battling qualities on the long run after two out (missed out the last due to a stricken horse), the son of Malinas posted an extremely useful speed figure for the grade and with conditions set to be as demanding as they were that day, he can come out on top in the battle of the track specialists.
DJ PETE – 1-point win@11-4
