DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
MONDAY MAY 11
4.53 ROSCOMMON
FROGS HOLLOW CREEK ran with plenty of encouragement on his debut at The Curragh last month and with the valuable commodity of an all-important run under his belt, Martin Hassett’s colt can use that experience to his advantage.
Sent off 150-1 at the Kildare venue, clearly there were no big expectations for the son of Arizona to feature against several highly touted rivals and even though that pre-race assessment came to pass, his work in the closing stages having been badly outpaced at halfway left him with plenty to build on for next time.
Potentially well drawn in stall one, a good break should hopefully result in him racing handy for the outset and with today’s extra yardage likely to help rather than hinder, it would come as no shock if he were in the thick of the action when they are dishing out the medals.
FROGS HOLLOW CREEK – ½ point each-way@12-1
5.05 KILLARNEY
HI HO IDAHO has cut his teeth in two above average maiden hurdles since switching ranks from the point field and he looks set fair for another positive outcome if running to a similar level.
The six-year-old firstly ran way above his station on his rules debut at Leopardstown in March and finishing one place better at Clonmel a month later, he pushed the smart Arcadian Emperor all the way in a similar event, in turn, pulling well clear of the useful form guide, Speculator (rated 119).
Posting a very good speed figure in defeat at the Powerstown Park venue, the fifth, Karlynn, advertised the strength of the form at Cork yesterday and in what appears not the strongest maiden hurdle ever run, it will be a massive surprise if he doesn’t make his presence felt.
HI HO IDAHO – 1-point each-way@9-2
7.23 ROSCOMMON
Joseph O’Brien looks to have this conditions race by the short and curlies and even though the official ratings and betting suggest Nil Bua Gan Dua holds a significant advantage, time may tell stable mate DIAL ME IN has more to say in the outcome than predicted.
The pair ran on the same card at Cork a month ago over the same C&D, so there is a perfect opportunity to analyse their performances against each other, and it is significant that the son of Awtaad comes out best on the data.
Involved in the much more stronger run race of the two, he noticeably kept on very well from the back of the field and on the evidence presented from 17 days ago, there is simply no way there is 17lb between them according to the official ratings.
As is often the case when this situation arises, the market has gone heavily in favour of the unpenalised runner, but the value lies with Dial Me In and he rates a decent bet at the prices to cause a bit of a surprise.
DIAL ME IN – 1-point win@9-2
