DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

MONDAY JUNE 22

6.25 BALLINROBE

Mano Chicago sets the standard with a rating of 80 but he looks vulnerable on account of his lack of progression of late and he is worth taking on with BIG DISPUTE, who arrives here with a rather unconventional profile.

Kevin Coleman’s gelding has just had the one start on the flat and he shaped with a fair degree of promise in what is turning out to be a warmer maiden at Cork than it appeared at the time.

The winner, Encheladus, has gone on to score at Royal Ascot last week, while the fourth, Confused, followed suit in a maiden next time, not to mention the likes of Reynir and Trojan Fighter both running well in defeat since.

Since that solid start on the level, he has reverted back to the jumps with placed efforts back at Cork and Listowel and with the latest effort ungradable on account of him racing around the inside on a day where the widest part of the track was king (runner-up won next time), he has enough ability to make an impact in a modest race of its kind.

BIG DISPUTE – ½ point each-way@10-1

6.45 WINDSOR

Quite a poor maiden by track standards and it looks a golden opportunity for FIEFDOM to strike providing connections aren’t using the race as a stepping stone towards handicaps (third run).

The son of Profitable was never at the races first time out over Lingfield’s sharp downhill, seven-furlongs, so he was impossible to judge to any degree of accuracy, but there was much more to like about his latest effort at Wolverhampton.

Shuffled back through the field to be worse than midfield going down the back straight, Sean Woods’ inmate was still in an uncompromising position heading for home but it was from that juncture when he started to pick up nicely and by the time he had hit the line, he finished in a more than respectable fifth.

Considering the speed figure of the contest and the standard of opponents ahead of him at the Dunstall venue, it is clear he took a huge step forward from his initial display and with the booking of Tom Marquand strongly hinting towards him being allowed to run on his merits, he deserves to be played accordingly.

FIEFDOM – 1-point each-way@9-2
