As an aging seven-year-old, he is not getting any better or quicker nowadays, but he is still capable of mixing it against some useful opposition and his latest effort in a stronger race than he faces this afternoon backs up that view.
Although only sixth of 8 runners at Hamilton 11 days ago, the speed figure of the race was as such, he was able to run a career high number and having gone well over today’s track in the past, the son of Profitable has as good a chance as any of spoiling the Mark’s Choice party (race named after Gemma Tutty’s gelding).

MANTON ROAD wouldn’t one for maximum stakes, but he is well worth a small interest based on his eye-catching performance here last time out.
In-keeping with his overall record, Richard Phillips’ gelding was tardy into his stride over the C&D 20 days ago and, as a result, found himself in a poor position heading out of the back straight.
Once facing the judge, however, he came home with a fair degree of purpose and if it wasn’t for running into trouble at crucial moments, he may have bettered his third-place finish.
On the evidence of that display and his overall results at the Dunstall venue that read 411533, the tapeta-based surface really suits the son of Mohaather and he makes plenty of appeal from an each-way/place only perspective with many firms offering more than just the standard three places in the exotic markets.
