DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
WEDNESDAY JULY 8
7.13 KEMPTON
GOOLOOGONG by no means ran poorly here last time out, it’s just his standards are so high at the track, many were expecting better and he is afforded another chance to maintain his overall record over the C&D in what appears a weaker race on paper.
Events panned out badly right from the start 42 days as George Baker’s gelding received a broadside coming out of the stalls and although he worked himself back into a position of strength turning for home, his effort down the straight wasn’t as strong as it might have been.
That said, the form of the race has worked out well with the likes of Filibustering, Senor Cortez and Yaa Min all going on to run well next time and the time figure he posted in defeat also suggested his performance wasn’t too shabby either.
A smooth winner over his previous outing at the Sunbury venue, his form figures over the C&D read an impressive 1314 and another solid run looks on the cards.
