DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
SUNDAY JULY 19
4.15 NEWTON ABBOT
The race won by Warfleet over the C&D a month ago holds the key to this contest and of the trio who clashed that day, MAKEINBECON is the one taken to come out on top.
Barry Murphy’s gelding can race rather lazily during the early part of his races, as he did on his latest encounter at the west country venue, but he gradually worked himself in contention during the final circuit and his eventual third place finish was more than respectable under the circumstances.
For him, he raced a bit more generously at Market Rasen last time out and, as a result, he was able to engage at an earlier juncture before powering through in the latter stages to win going away.
A previous winner over today’s C&D earlier in the season, beating the ever-reliable Saucats, both he and his old rival are closely matched with Man Oh Man on their clash behind Warfleet and, in a race that looks sure to boil down to fine margins, the son of Yeats rates the percentage call at the prices.
MAKEINBECON – 1-point win@7-2
