Not that many of the fillies in this listed affair have any form to note on soft ground, so there is an element of guesswork involved, but at least MISS KODI has displayed an appetite for such conditions and her recent Lowther fourth sets the standard.
Unlike the eventual winner, Libertango, Clive Cox’s filly helped set strong fractions from the outset but in trying to force the issue and eyeball the other well-fancied runner, Star Of State, she ultimately paid for those early exertions late on.
Only beaten just over a length in a Group 3 at Ascot previously, she may have found the ground a bit too lively for her liking that day and she was seen to much better effect with ease underfoot on her debut at Chepstow, scoring by no fewer than seven lengths.
Closely matched with her main market rival, Nuit d’Eclair, on the evidence of their previous encounter at the Berkshire venue, her proven ability to handle today’s ground might determine who has the last laugh between the pair in their rematch.
