NORMAN FLETCHER has seemingly had as long a stretch without winning than his namesake did in HMP Slade prison but there have been encouraging signs since the visor has been sported and Nigel Twiston-Davies’ inmate is afforded another chance to end the losing run.
The seven-year-old has definitely had a slight uptick in form in his last two starts and his latest effort when third behind Letterson Lady at Worcester was rewarded with a healthy speed figure.
Outpaced by the front two on the run down to the last at the Midland venue, it was noticeable that the son of No Risk At All kept on in pleasing fashion on the run-in and there was more than enough promise from his performance to warrant a small each-way interest in him here this afternoon.

MI SUENO failed to deliver the goods when a strongly fancied favourite at Cartmel last time out but the rain-softened ground was a viable excuse for his demise and now back on a surface that will see him in a much better light, Nick Schofield’s gelding can repeat his recent wins at Stratford and Newton Abbot.
Like most summer jump horses, the son of Rock Of Gibraltar is reliant on the weather playing ball at this time of year and what happened to him at the Cumbrian venue last time out wouldn’t be the first time a genuine fast ground performer got caught out by changing conditions that were a good deal different to what was forecast when the final declarations were made.
Prior to his below-par effort 17 days ago, the seven-year-old had dotted up in a similar contest at Stratford and providing the track avoids the odd rogue shower than is forecast for the area, all roads lead to him being one of the chief players despite his morning odds suggesting otherwise.

SPACE BEAR adapted well to soft ground for the first time when making all of the running at Windsor last time out and she has all the right credentials to suggest she can repeat the dose under similar conditions.
Prior to her victory at the Berkshire circuit, Mick Appleby’s filly had yet to encounter ground as testing as it was that day, and that is the main reason why she proved so easy to back despite heading into the contest in fine fettle.
Jumping onto the lead early, she soon got into a lovely rhythm and once passing the intersection with a healthy advantage, it was all about maintaining the gallop to the line, which she did with a reasonable degree of comfort.
To add to her solid claims, she is also has a win over today’s C&D tucked under her belt and with the likelihood she will be ask to row her own boat again from the front, she can maintain the decent recent run of her stable.
