CAPICHERA was one of the last off the bridle in a very strongly run Galtres Stakes at York last time out and, having left the impression she ultimately didn’t quite get home, the drop back in trip can hopefully make all the difference this time around.
Drawn 15 of 15 on the Knavesmire, the decision to drop her right out the back was understandable, and those tactics looked even more sensible given the way she worked her way down to the two-furlong pole travelling as well as anything.
However, no sooner as she hit the from at that juncture, she was engulfed by the eventual winner, Prizeland, and in the end, she could only keep on at the one pace to finish third.
That said, she came out of the contest with her stock higher than her 85 rating at the time and with today’s 1m2f with some ease in the ground likely to prove her sweet spot, Ed Walker’s filly gains to confident vote to build on that improved performance.
The other main players today, Rhapsody, one place ahead of Capechera at York looks the most obvious threat based on the data from a month ago and it is easy to see why there has been plenty of money for her in the last 24 hours.
That said, she enjoyed a much smoother passage throughout the race on The Knavesmire and whether she deserves to be significantly shorter in the betting is open to debate.

EDWIN HUBBLE proved to be a slight disappointment when a well backed favourite at Newbury last time out, but he now heads back in the direction of a C&D that saw him shine the time before and in the hope the Esher venue sparks him back into life, Brian Meehan’s gelding gains the vote.
Unlike the three-runner race he landed here a month ago, the race at the Berkshire track ended up being a good deal more tactical and as events panned out, he didn’t have the sufficient speed at a crucial stage to hold his position.
However, he did keep on quite pleasingly late on and with today’s bigger field likely to take them along at a more even gallop, a nice stalking ride from his inside draw can hopefully reap rewards.
