Based on the action on day one of the western meeting, conditions are pretty testing and with the prospect of even more rain to come, INNS AND OUT might easily be capable of outrunning his odds.
Tim Easterby’s gelding made all the running for a facile success over seven furlongs at Musselburgh two starts ago and he made a brave fist of things trying to repeat the dose at Beverley five days later.
Sent clear over two out at the Yorkshire venue, the son of Inns Of Court was ultimately reeled in by two of his main rivals’ close home but considering the gallop he had gone in the conditions (heavy ground), it was understandable his stride would shorten over the extended seven-furlong trip on the stiff climb to the line.
On the evidence of the last two runs, dropping back a furlong isn’t probably that big of a risk, particularly on soft ground, and drawn 13 of 13, he has very little option but to attack up the stands side rail in a bid to shake off his rivals.

GANGSTER GRANNY was a bit disappointing on the flat last time out, but she returns to a track where her form figures read 315211 and she is fancied to put her local knowledge to good use.
The Colm McBratney-trained mare has run poorly before and bounced back to form on return to her local track and you only need go back two starts ago to see how transformative today’s undulating circuit has on her levels of performance.
Up against the likes of in-form mares Cobra Queen, TheFlyingbee, Poetic Twist and Samba Train, the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor proved too strong for her rivals by storming up the hill in the closing stages for a convincing win and with the former going on to boost the form since time, confidence in her duplicating the feat rates higher than her position in the market.
