DAY TRADER was unlucky to bump into the very well handicapped Timurshah at Navan last time out, but he did push the short-priced favourite all the way in finishing well clear of the rest and he looks set to keep the fine run of his trainer moving in the right direction.
For an amateur rider race, it looked a decent one on paper at the Meath venue beforehand and Tony Martin’s inmate impressed with how he went through the first mile and a half of the journey.
Eased into contention two out, he was the only one to offer any real resistance to the winner from that juncture and with the time figure good and the fourth winning next time out, the form rates very solid for the grade.
Prior to that sound effort, the five-year-old had filled out the same position in a similarly competitive affair at the Galway Festival and having already previously won over today’s track, albeit over hurdles, he has quite a bit going in the favour.

5.07 WOLVERHAMPTON
Chianti made a brave bid to overcome a wide draw over today’s C&D two weeks ago but in the same race, TIME AND EFFORT was noted not receiving the smoothest of passages throughout and the latter gains the vote on grounds of being better value of the pair on her return visit.
Racing at the Dunstall venue for the first time and sporting a tongue-tie, Ivan Furtado’s filly found herself in a lovely position tracking the speed on the rail throughout the first portion of the contest but just when she needed the gaps to open turning for home, she got the door constantly slammed in her face.
Finishing the race hard on the bridle, the left the impression she would have played a significant role in the outcome with anything like a clear run and based on that theory, she has no right to be chalked up at 10-1 in a similar contest that contains virtually the same sort of opposition, quality wise.

John E & Thomas Kiely made a terrific start to the festival when Frahar Field scored here yesterday and there is every chance of further success in the shape of LIBERATED LIGHT in this concluding handicap.
A winner four starts ago at Tramore, the seven-year-old has remained in decent form since and his effort when third behind Timurshah at Navan last time out reads better than the bare result suggests.
Some way off the pace turning for home, the son of Muhaarar made a big move in the hottest part of the race to throw down a challenge two out but unfortunately his effort petered out on the climb to the line as the physics of his manoeuvre eventually caught up with him.
Draw 17 of 17 here this afternoon, he will need a reasonable amount of luck to obtain a smooth passage out wide but providing he can overcome this impost, he has every chance of being competitive.
