DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY JANUARY 14

2.22 SOUTHWELL

RUBELLITE (best price 10-3) pulled a race out of the fire she looked destined to lose at Newcastle 12 days ago and with that last-gasp success keeping the fine run of her stable ticking along in the right direction, Stella Barclay’s mare looks the logical choice to keep favourite High Court Judge honest at the very least.

The five-year-old was still some way off the pace with two furlongs to run at the Gosforth Park venue but she picked up strongly in the closing stages to get up and pull off an improbable victory in the dying strides.

Time wise, she comes out of that race with a career high figure on her cv and having gone well over an inadequate trip on her latest start here last summer, she looks slightly underestimated now everyone seemingly wants to back High Court Judge at any price.

RUBELLITE – 1-point win@10-3

5.00 DUNDALK

STORM ERIC (best price 4-1) bounced back to something close to his best here last week and with connections seemingly keen on exploiting his renewed vigour, Jamie Flynn’s charge is fancied to take advantage of another decent opportunity.

Settling nicely in midfield off reasonable fractions four days ago, the seven-year-old arrived on the scene holding every chance from two out and staying on best down the centre of the track, he powered clear to score in emphatic fashion.

Considering the way in which he hit the line and all his previous form over today’s trip, the step back up to the extended 1m2f shouldn’t hold any fears and he looks one of the more solid propositions in a race largely full of unreliable types.

STORM ERIC – 1-point win@4-1
