DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 29

2.47 DUNDALK

EIGHTY EIGHT (best price 9-4) cruelly had his pocket picked in the dying strides by the well backed Brosna Town here last time out but now racing over a trip more likely to play to his strengths, James Feane’s inmate can resume winning ways.

Having made all the running to success previously, it was easy to understand why similar tactics were employed a month later, although in hindsight, his inexperienced pilot probably didn’t need to put his foot down on the gas from such a long way out.

With his chin left hanging out all the way down the straight, he finally succumbed to his main market rival in the shadows of the post but it was a run that strongly hinted he remains in good form and providing his pilot learnt from that experience and gets the fractions right this time, the son of Dragon Pulse can prove difficult to catch.

EIGHTY EIGHT – 1-point win@9-4

7.00 KEMPTON

MONOPOLISE (best price 7-2) exhibited a useful turn of foot to get the job done here last time out and although he must prove himself equally effective over a furlong shorter, Mark Loughnane’s inmate is fancied to still come up with the goods.

Still halfway down the pack as the field turned for home at the Sunbury venue, the five-year-old was produced with a darting run up the inside when the cutaway appeared, and he didn’t need any second invitation to accept the challenge. Once in the lead, the son of Showcasing battled on gamely all the way to the line, and it was a performance that once again underlined his love affair for the track.

Moreover, his time figure was very good for the grade and with the runner-up, Beauty Generation, going on to boost the form over the same C&D last week, confidence is high he can follow suit with a reasonable amount of luck in running.

MONOPOLISE – 1-point win@7-2

8.00 KEMPTON

FRAVANCO (best price 9-2) finished a creditable fourth in a race that was noted for its strong data for the grade at Lingfield last time out and now heading back in the direction of his previous success, Michael Madgwick’s gelding looks sure to give another solid account.

Ultimately, he just didn’t have the capabilities to match the turn of foot shown by Upepo at the Surrey venue 56 days ago but there was by no means any disgrace in his performance, he just clearly is better served by today’s slower surface based on all known evidence.

Looking back at his victory here last September, he did well to reel in Private Bryan from three out, who appeared to have an unassailable lead, and a repeat of something similar puts him right in the mix on all known form.

FRAVANCO – 1-point each-way@9-2
