DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 6

2.55 HUNTINGDON

CHICAGO STORM (NAP) (best price 3-1) created quite a stir for a 25-1 poke at Wincanton last time out and with the data from his victory last month suggesting there was no fluke about his performance, Daisy Hitchen’s inmate can follow up on a track with a similar lay out.

Picked up by new connections after landing a Dundalk claimer, the six-year-old was pitched straight into a discipline where he hadn’t shown too much in six previous attempts but as things transpired, the moved turned out to be an inspired one.

Due to the dense fog at the west county venue, visibility was at a premium but what we could see revealed he exhibited an impressive turn of foot when he appeared out of the gloom after the second last that carried forward to a cosy five length success.

The feature of that win 21 days ago was his time comparisons against the novice hurdle won by South Omo Zone pointing heavily in favour of the 0-100 handicap and to highlight the strong nature of the form, the third placed finisher Just Aidan, went on to score in facile fashion at Lingfield last week.

Seemingly still well treated even off his revised mark of 106 based on all known evidence, this revitalised character has very few negatives against his name, and he deserves to be played accordingly.

4.15 FFOS LAS

DOUBLE CLICK (best price 7-2) isn’t the easiest of rides, often dropping the bridle that leads to him losing his place, but as we saw here last time, today’s long home straight on testing ground provides him the opportunity to make up for his indiscretions and he is fancied to copy and paste his C&D victory.

Jamie Snowden’s gelding had suggested on his two previous performances that a step up in trip was required to see him to best effect and so it proved, as he came from some way off the pace at the Welsh venue to steamroller his opponents in the final half a mile.

Likely to have the coal shovelled into his engine at some stage during today’s contest, hopefully he can stay in touch with the pack significantly enough so not to lose interest and if so, he has a good chance of running down his pray once his stamina kicks into play.

In addition, for those who like to play in running, it could be worth monitoring his progress at halfway with a view to capitalising on a potentially bigger price than he was pre-race.
