DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 7
1.50 KEMPTON
J J MOON (best price 5-1) probably would have prevailed to Wincanton last time out but for a bad mistake two out and Emma Lavelle’s could be the one to take advantage of any shortcomings of favourite Kingston Pride, if he doesn’t bounce back in the right direction.
Going equally as well as the heavily backed favourite Prophesea turning for home, the six-year-old proceeded to almost tip himself up at the second last and although he rallied to great effect from that juncture, he was always fighting a losing battle to get back on terms with the eventual winner.
Despite the agonising defeat, he still came out of the contest with a career high speed figure for his troubles and a run of a similar magnitude should be enough to see him hit the frame at the very least.
J J MOON – 1-point each-way@5-1
2.12 BANGOR
ROCKINASTORM (best price 6-1) just found one too good on his step up to Class 3 level at Ascot last time out but now back against competition that he should find more suitable, Henry Daly’s gelding can further bolster his track record.
The eight-year-old has been in a tremendous form so far this season, winning twice prior to his defeat at the Berkshire venue and given how well his conqueror that day went on to run in a better race at Sandown next time, there was certainly no shame in getting beaten four lengths.
A winner of a bumper over today’s course in his formative days, he also pushed the subsequent Welsh National winner, Val Dancer, all the way in a handicap hurdle the last time he stepped foot on the track and having been seen to good effect on slow ground in the past, everything looks set fair for him to give it affair lash from the front.
ROCKINASTORM – ½ point each-way@6-1
5.25 DUNDALK
JABBAR (NAP) (best price 2-1) ran out an impressive winner over today’s C&D last time out and with doubts about several of his rivals, Gerard O’Leary’s inmate rates a confident choice to repeat the dose.
Since being stepped up to extreme distances, the six-year-old has really come into his own and the way he powered clear to a comfortable success here last month strongly hinted there could be plenty more to come.
Once he gets into top gear, he can really stretch to good effect and whether Jerandme is good enough to turn the tables or Persian Bliss can stay this far are open to serious question.
JABBAR – 1-point win@2-1
7.30 DUNDALK
DROMORE GLORY (best price 7-2) seems to have taken a liking to tonight’s venue based on his last two performances here and with the latter of the pair by some way his best on the data, Paul Flynn’s gelding rates a strong choice to follow up.
Seemingly very comfortable with the strong pace set here last month, the son of Cotai Glory sauntered into the lead travelling best at the two pole and once establishing command at that juncture, he just had to be nudged out to maintain his advantage.
Running a much quicker time figure than the one posted y tonight’s favourite, Someone’s Wish, the market appears all out of whack based on all known evidence and the six-year-old deserves to be played accordingly.
DROMORE GLORY – 1-point win@7-2
