DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY MARCH 4

5.15 MARKET RASEN

BELVEDERE BLAST (best price 10-1) isn’t the easiest of rides but if he can be motivated to keep in touch until turning for home, there’s a reasonable chance he can run down the main players in this concluding contest.

A game winner over today’s C&D three starts ago, he never looked likely to repeat the dose on his latest encounter, even accounting for the fact he was sporting a change of headgear, but it was noticeable that he finished off his race with an incredible amount of gusto from the last.

To get within a length and a half of the all-the-way winner, Burrows Hall, from where he was turning for home was a seriously big effort, but it was a display that left one thinking that he is also taking the Micky somewhat.

Clearly, he needs to be persuaded into putting his best foot forward but with 10-1 on offer and three places to aim at with most firms, he is worth a small interest to see whether the female touch in the saddle can coax the best out of him.

5.30 SOUTHWELL

The race won by King Of Speed at Wolverhampton a month ago has seen the likes of Conquest Of Power, Mariner, Marioento and My Brother Mike all win since and RAVENGLASS (best price 8-1) could easily prove to be another cab off the rank at a place that saw him go close on his only other start here back in October.

Dropped out from his wide draw through the early exchanges, the six-year-old could never really get competitive from point onwards and just to compound matters, he lost further ground when forced to race wide spinning off the home turn.

He was, however, noticed doing some good late work to cling on to a bit of hope for next time and now back to the scene of his career high best effort on the figures over his optimum trip, Adrian Wintle’s gelding can easily outrun his morning odds.
