DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

THURSDAY MARCH 27

3.20 WOLVES

A tightly knit affair but UPEPO (best price 9-2) won with such authority over today’s C&D last time out that he maybe the answer to the puzzle if capable of running to a similar level.

Held up towards the rear at the Dunstall venue 30 days ago, Tony Carroll’s grey was potentially still in a poor position rounding the home turn but the turn of foot he exhibited down the outside of the track soon bailed him out of trouble and in the end, he went on to score going away.

|His final circuit time that night of 1.38.8 (1.40.0 par) suggested he produced an above-average performance for the grade and even though he faces the likes of potential improvers It’s A Love Thing and Media Mogul (finish just behind Upepo at Kempton two starts ago) the five-year-old is still fancied to give a good account.

3.42 CLONMEL

BITE THAT (best price 6-1) defied what looked an ominous pre-race drift to score in tidy fashion at Wexford last time out and with that strong possibility he will improve a good deal for the run, Pat Flynn’s inmate can continue in the winning theme.

Maybe one or two were questioning the fact he had finished runner-up four times in a row or it could have been the return off a 111-day break that allowed him to go off 8-1 against a field in which he had the best form, but either way, he stuck two fingers up to the non-believers with a performance of some panache.

Cruising into the lead approaching two out, the nine-year-old scampered clear in double quick time and his eight-length success in no way flattered his superiority.

Although yet to prove himself over today’s trip, he did run well when third over 2m5f on heavy ground at Tramore during the winter and having finished runner-up on each of his last two starts at today’s track, the son of Milan looks cast-iron each-way material on his return to the Powerstown Park venue.
