DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

THURSDAY APRIL 24

2.25 PERTH

The race won by Anyharminasking at Newcastle 19 days ago was noted for its very strong speed figure for the grade and THANK YOU BLUE (best price 8-1), having played a significant role in forcing the issue in the final mile, can easily prove his odds are all out of whack with the data.

Tracking the leader until picking up the running halfway down the back straight, the eight-year-old gradually wound up the pace and was still in front approaching the last, but from that juncture, he eventually succumbed to the smooth-travelling winner and well-fancied runner-up.

Despite the hat trick being foiled, he still came out of the race with a career high speed figure and hailing from a yard who surely must be in the conversation for stable of the season award, he can go close to posting win number 46 for the Basford outfit.

THANK YOU BLUE – ½ point each-way@8-1

6.40 BANGOR

KONFUSION (NAP) (best price 7-2) won in the style of a rapidly improving chaser at Uttoxeter last time out and even though today’s assignment requires another step forward, Joe Parkinson & Sue Smith’s inmate will hopefully prove equal to the task.

Even over a stiff track such as Hexham’s the time before, he shaped as though he might be better served by further and that theory was backed up in no uncertain terms at the Midland venue as the seven-year-old, aggressively ridden from the outset, stayed on in powerful fashion in the final mile to record a facile success.

Looking at the data he produced a month ago, his solid overall speed figure was matched with a final circuit time quicker than the 125-rated King Arise, who took the 2m4f handicap chase an hour earlier on the card and on the evidence of those calculations, he still looks to have plenty in hand even off his revised mark.

KONFUSION – 2-point win@7-2

8.10 BANGOR

FAT HARRY (best price 5-1) for all the world shaped like he required much further than the minimum trip he faced at Uttoxeter last time out and he rates a confident choice to vindicate that impression in his bid to finally get off the mark.

In-keeping with his yard’s upturn in fortunes, the son of Multiplex has improved significantly since the turn of the year and his effort at Sedgefield two starts ago was supplemented with his latest instalment.

Outpaced after three out at the Midland venue, he stayed on eye-catchingly in the latter stages to chip away at what appeared to be a potentially heavy loss from that juncture and with the speed figure indicating the race was a fair one of its kind, he doesn’t have a leg to stand on if he doesn’t go well in this similar event over an extra half a mile.

FAT HARRY – 1-point each-way@5-1
