DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY MAY 6

3.30 FFOS LAS

Warren Greatrex is still basking in the glow of his success at the Punchestown Festival last week but, as they say, there is little time to rest on your laurels and JET OF DREAMS (best price 7-2) can provide the Lambourn handler with more joy in this handicap chase.

A revelation since undergoing surgery, the son of Jet Away has yet to finish out of the first three since this time last year and during that period, he has managed to win on four occasions – including last time out at Chepstow.

Despite the small field at the Welsh track, the pace was generous from the start thanks to the exploits of Salamanca Bay and the seven-year-old, thriving on such an environment, came through strongly at the business end after travelling well throughout.

Posting a good speed figure 31 days ago, he once again proved that a nice, quick surface is all important to his game and with conditions set to be ideal for him this afternoon, it is hard to envisage anything other than another bold show.

5.48 WORCESTER

Providing Jet Of Dreams runs to his maximum potential in the 3.30 at Ffos Las, confidence in DJ PETE (best price 4-1) will gather pace in his attempt to finally shed the maiden tag in this opening handicap chase.

No match for two useful types in the shape of Torneo and Alien Storm at Chepstow two starts ago, Sarah-Jane Davies’ inmate went out of the frying pan and into the fire in terms of quality opposition on his return to the Welsh track, but despite taking on four solid, in-form rivals, he managed to usurp his best previous efforts by some margin.

Staying on well late on to keep his main market rival honest, the seven-year-old grey, in turn, pulled nicely clear of the rest and with the data from the race in question suggesting it was a fair effort for the grade, a repeat of something similar in today’s slightly less taxing affair on paper makes him the one to beat on form.
