DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY MAY 13

3.20 CHEPSTOW

DAPPLED LIGHT (best price 4-1) ran with plenty of encouragement for the future on his return to action at Wolverhampton last time out and now heading back to a venue that has seen him go well on all three previous visits, Adrian Wintle’s gelding rates a strong choice to maintain his fine record.

Having his firs run for 180 days at the Dunstall venue, the five-year-old was seemingly travelling as well as anything turning for home when a wall of horses confronted him and while the winner, Northbouund, skipped merrily clear, he had to sit and suffer and watch on from afar.

Whether he would have won with a smooth passage is open to debate but either way, he showed more than enough to instil confidence in him going forward and with blinkers back on over the same C&D where he just got touched off last September, a bold bid to go one place better looks on the cards.

DAPPLED LIGHT – 1-point each-way@4-1

6.30 SLIGO

HIGH HONOUR (best price 6-1) probably isn’t one for maximum stakes, but he did more than enough at Kilbeggan last time out to come recommended back to a C&D that saw him successful on his only other raid last summer.

The first point to raise from the Westmeath venue is they went a good gallop right from the outset and that strong pace didn’t phase Donal Kinsella’s inmate, who travelled as well as anything for nine tenths of the journey.

Finally succumbing to a couple of more conservatively ridden rivals, the five-year-old has to settle for an honourable third but in doing so, he posted a useful speed figure for the grade – his highest in his career – and now back to the scene of his only success over hurdles, there seems no obvious reason why he won’t make a brave bid to double his account.

HIGH HONOUR – ½ point each-way@6-1
