DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

SUNDAY JUNE 15

2.25 DONCASTER

WRECK IT RILEY (best price 7-1) has been plying his trade to a decent standard in better company than he faces today and having run well on his two previous visits over on Town Moor, Alan Brown’s gelding should go well in his bid to provide his small operation their second winner of the week.

Faring best of those drawn low at Ripon two starts ago, the five-year-old was once again done no favours in the ballot at York last time out but that impost didn’t prevent him from running well against the track bias and it was a performance to suggest he remains in fine fettle.

Never nearer when staying on into third over today’s C&D last August, he returns to the scene of that fine effort with the visor back on and his overall form and speed figures suggest the layers have rather underestimated his claims.

WRECK IT RILEY – 1-point each-way@7-1

2.30 GOWRAN

LOVELY (best price 5-1) sprung a bit of a surprise on handicap debut at Fairyhouse last week but the data suggested there was no fluke about the outcome, and she is taken to confirm that view under similar conditions.

Heading into the Meath venue with only scraps of form, it was easy to dismiss the daughter of Australia out of calculations but that proved to be a stance way off the mark as she defied her 40-1 odds with a gutsy display.

In defeating a 14-strong field, she posted a very useful speed figure for the grade and with connections keen to push forward while she’s in decent shape, a good break from her favoured inside draw can see her prominent early position reap the benefits at a track where being on the speed is crucial.

LOVELY – 1-point each-way@5-1

3.05 GOWRAN

MOTHER MARA (best price 7-1) almost overcame a poor draw at Fairyhouse last time out and providing her conqueror, Lovely, gives a nod to the form in the previous contest, all roads will lead to Gerard O’Leary’s filly running another big race.

Being drawn 13 of the 14 runners at the Meath venue meant she had to use up a good deal of petrol just her hold her position through the first half mile but rather back out of the heat of battle down the home straight – which would have been understandable – she kept finding for pressure all the way to the line.

Although she didn’t gain maximum rewards for her endeavours, she still came out of the race with a career high number on the figures and from a much more favourable draw here today, she has a decent chance of going one place better over a course that should suit her run style.

MOTHER MARA – 1-point each-way@7-1

4.40 GOWRAN

GUY’S GIRL (best price 18-1) has shaped nicely on each of her two starts over today’s course and despite the possibility of her third run being channelled into one for a handicap mark, a chance is taken on connections allowing her to run on her merits.

Willie McCreery’s filly only offered a small sample of what might be to come on her debut here a month ago but last time out was a totally different story as she came home with plenty of purpose from the back of the field.

The way she hit the line 13 days ago suggested a step back up in trip would see her in a better light and having already had the experience of running at the track twice, she can put that valuable knowledge to good use at rewarding odds.

GUYS GIRL – ½ point each-way@18-1
