DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

THURSDAY JUNE 26

3.35 NEWMARKET

AMBERIA created a very favourable impression when making a winning debut at Leicester 23 days ago and with the strong possibility of further improvement to come, David Loughnane’s filly can take the step up in grade in her stride.

Picked up very cheaply by connections despite being related to four winners, her price tag was probably one of the main reasons why she was sent off a 12-1 poke at the Midland venue and it soon become apparent those odds were way off the mark.

Settling into a lovely early rhythm, the daughter of Coulsty was asked to go through the gears from the two furlong pole and from that juncture, she strode majestically clear to the tune of six lengths.

Posting a much quicker time than the other division of the maiden on the same card, the form of her sparkling win has already taken a boost thanks to the exploits of the runner up at Haydock last week, and hailing from a trainer who knows what to do with a useful juvenile, she can justify her place in this line-up.

AMBERIA – 1-point win@9-2

ORANGE SKY (NAP) (best price 11-4) ran a bit below expectations at Newcastle on her seasonal bow but as everything didn’t go her way, she is worth another chance to regain her reputation off what appears a workable mark on handicap debut.

All the rage to back up the impression she created on her second start as a juvenile, George Boughey’s filly seemed to have matters under control on her return to the Gosforth Park venue but after being totally broadsided by her closest pursuer a furlong from home, the momentum she lost proved to be a costly exercise.

Talked about as a potential pattern filly prior to the season getting underway, she will clearly have to go a long way to revisit that sort of conversation but with connections seemingly happy to work her way to a decent level via the conventional handicap route, the daughter of No Nay Never can at least make a start in the right direction.

ORANGE SKY – 1-point win@11-4
