DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

SUNDAY JUNE 29

2.00 UTTOXETER

Coco Mademosielle is very much the sexy one among a bunch of seasoned handicap stayers but she has yet to do anything on the data that suggests she should be trading around the 5-2 mark in a race of this nature and she is readily passed over in favour of last year’s winner, HANG IN THERE (best price 11-2).

Arriving here just as he did twelve months ago having finished runner-up to Perth specialist Statuario (came from a long way back), connections look to have timed the 11yo’s preparation to perfection and the icing on the cake for his repeat bid comes in the shape of ideal underfoot conditions.

Holding form figures of 113 at the track and with the temptation to use a good conditional shelved in favour of the assured handling of Harry Cobden in the plate, the son of Yeats holds obvious claims despite the burden of 12st.

HANG IN THERE – 1-point each-way@11-2

GREEK FLOWER (best price 17-2) has cut a frustrating figure for a year or so but, following a promising display on her seasonal reappearance over today’s course, John Feane’s mare has a better than an outside chance of correcting the wrongs from this race twelve months ago.

Connections probably couldn’t believe their misfortune last year as she readily beat all those positioned towards the nearside only to find pesky Amazon Lady ploughing a lone furrow over the far side rail to victory.

Likely to have been targeted for another run at this race ever since, her effort a month ago was pretty decent given where she was positioned on the track and hailing from a stable who bagged a decent winner here yesterday, confidence is high she can make her presence felt with any amount of luck in running.

GREEK FLOWER – ½ point each-way@17-2

Both HARBOUR WIND (best price 16-1) and ZOFFMAN (best price 16-1) featured prominently in a race noted for its strong speed figure over today’s course last time out and they make plenty of appeal at their respective prices to make an impact on their return to the Kildare circuit.

The former looked like he would take a hand in the finish at the two-furlong pole only to get tired on his first outing since last November but with that all-important run under his belt, Dermot Weld’s classy operator should have more petrol left in the tank for the final push to the line this time around.

The latter received a rough draw on his second start of the season but despite this impost he finished off his race as well as could be expected under the circumstances.

Runner-up in this race last season off a higher mark, he returns in his bid to go one place better in reasonable shape and from a better draw from which to operate, Noel Meade’s gelding appears underestimated in the market.

HARBOUR WIND – ½ point each-way@16-1 (four places)

ZOFFMAN – ½ point each-way@16-1 (four places)

5.55 CURRAGH

JABBAR (best price 16-1) could have done with a better draw (stall 23) but he does have two miles to organise himself into a challenging position and he looks way overpriced based on his latest effort over today’s course.

Sporting the cheekpieces for the first time, Gerard O’Leary’s inmate hit the front on the approach to the final furlong and although he dug deep in his bid to resist the late challenge of My Percy, he ended up just losing out in a wild finish.

A strong race not only based on form, a very smart speed figure also suggested the Ebor trial at the Kildare venue is worth following in the future and with today’s extra two furlongs not seen as an issue based on his previous success at Dundalk during the winter, the six-year-old makes plenty of appeal at the morning odds.

JABBAR – ½ point each-way@16-1 (six places)
