DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY JULY 1

2.18 TIPPERARY

AEROS LUCK (NAP) (best price 7-2) is really beginning to get his act together over fences and following a breakthrough success in a similar race at Punchestown last time out, Gavin Cromwell’s gelding can continue his merry way up the ranks.

The six-year-old didn’t quite stay the 2m4f journey as well as a couple of well-fancied rivals at Kilbeggan the time before but back to the minimum trip at the Kildare venue, he was well fancied to make his second start in handicap company a successful foray.

Always travelling well in what turned out to be a very strongly well affair, the six-year-old just about gained the day close home but with the speed figure dial flashing on red, his winning effort was a good deal better than it appeared at first glance.

Indeed, the fourth home, Gaelic Arc, has gone on to prove the value of the form next time and having already proven himself around today’s C&D in a useful beginners’ chase, everything looks set fair for another bold show.

AEROS LUCK – 1-point win@7-2

5.38 ROSCOMMON

SWEET BAY (best price 5-1) peaked this writer’s interest with a promising turf debut at Limerick last time out and Joseph O’Brien’s filly is worth a small investment to see whether she can build on that run made of sound foundations.

Towards the rear in the early stages 10 days ago, she picked up nicely when the pace increased in the home straight and she carried her momentum all the way to the line to finish on the heels of the main players.

On the evidence of that effort and her two previous outings on the all-weather at Dundalk, today’s extra yardage and stiff uphill climb from three out should play into her strengths and with connections hoping she goes well before her impending trip to the upcoming July sale at Newmarket next week, another positive result should see her become a more valuable commodity.

SWEET BAY – ½ point each-way@11-2

8.00 CHELMSFORD

A competitive looking listed fillies’ contest but not too many have strong all-weather form to count on except CLOUD COVER (best price 5-1), who can maintain the status of being the only C&D winner in the field.

Heading into her latest encounter at Newcastle full of confidence fresh off a victory over the same C&D previously, James Tate’s filly for some reason totally fluffed her lines when seemingly everything was in her favour and connections have been well within their rights to back off in a bid to find the root cause of whatever was troubling her on the day.

Prior to that uncharacteristic display, the daughter of Night Of Thunder had been a reliable conveyance on an artificial surface and her record over today’s C&D reads a victory and a close-up second in this race last year.

Freshened up in a bid to go one place better and hailing from a yard in decent form, the seven-time all-weather winner can add this useful prize to her list of achievements.

CLOUD COVER – ½ point each-way@5-1
