DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

WEDNESDAY JULY 16

THAIS TOIR (best price 15-2) was the only one to offer any resistance to the upwardly mobile Another Lord over today’s C&D last time out and a repeat of something similar will make Adrian Wintle’s inmate extremely hard to beat on his return to the Midland venue.

Having his first run for new connections, the 10-year-old was unconsidered in the market against a field that contained many progressive types for this time of year but despite the stiff competition, he came out of the contest as one to bear in mind for future events of a similar nature.

Despite being the only one in the field out of the handicap, he impressed with the way he jumped and travelled throughout the well-run affair and this scopey individual, rated as high as 104 when trained by Tom Lacey back in the day, easily has enough ability to make hay off his current mark, 30lb lower.

THAIS TOIR – ½ point each-way@15-2

BELLADINOTTE (best price 15-2) proved she had stamina in abundance when pulling off an unlikely win at Hexham last time out and off what still appears to be a very favourable mark, Sara Ender’s mare is fancied to just as competitive here this afternoon.

A promising runner-up on her first start for new connections at Southwell, the daughter of Yeats was given a patient/confident ride at the Borders venue and despite being set a tricky task trying to reel in the front two in the betting, Man Of Action and Fortune The Brave, she managed to pull off the feat with a bit to spare.

To highlight how well she did to win from such an unpromising position, her final circuit time was on par with the significantly higher rated pair Moonbow and Les’s Legacy, who had the luxury of racing over a shorter trip, and with the data suggesting she had run much better than a horse rated 77, even a small tweak in the ratings to 82 still seems some way south of where she will probably end up if she continues to progress under her new regime.

BELLADINOTTE – ½ point each-way@15-2 (five places)
