DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY AUGUST 19

6.30 CHEPSTOW

SAVANNAH SMILES (best price 9-4) can count herself slightly unfortunate to have her pocket picked in the dying strides at Brighton last time out but at least it was a bounce back in the right direction and the continuation of the same level of performance can see Grace Harris’ mare push towards scoring at today’s track for the fourth time.

Hitting the front inside the final furlong, the five-year-old looked home and hosed until the surge of Fancy Dancer spoilt the party but all things being equal, it wasn’t a bad effort and the speed figure suggested she had run a career high.

With that in mind, she should turn out to be an even stronger proposition back at her favourite venue and, just as importantly in Class 6 company and she deserves to be played accordingly.

SAVANNAH SMILES – 1-point win@9-4

8.10 WOLVERHAMPTON

Take Tyger Bay out of the equation and DAYTONA LADY (best price 7-1) would have walked away with a similar race to the one she faces tonight at Chelmsford last time out and this two-time C&D winner looks poised to go one place better on her return to the Dunstall Park venue.

Her exaggerated waiting style of racing often leaves her with plenty to do and that trait reared its head at the Essex venue last time out but once again, she finished off her race with plenty of gusto, coming from last to second in the final two furlongs.

Unsurprisingly, the five-year-old mare clocked the best closing sectionals of the entire 11-runner field and based on that performance along with her previous effort at Southwell, she looks to be running herself into the sort of form that makes her a reasonable each-way proposition.

DAYTONA LADY – ½ point each-way@7-1 (four places)
