DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 28

2.37 CURRAGH

Not The strongest of Group 3’s and it could well be within the range of KENSINGTON LANE (best price 7-1), who appears to be getting better with each run.

Donnacha O’Brien’s filly was unlucky to bump into two above average types in the shape of Summer Is Tomorrow and Geryon in mid-season, but she finally gained her due rewards for her consistency when dishing out a sound beating to nine rivals at Gowran last time out.

Despite being pestered for the early lead at the Kenny venue, the daughter of Starspangledbanner found the necessary reserves to power her way clear in the latter stages and with the speed figure speaking favourably of her performance, it came as no shock to see the runner-up, Luna Mia, boost the form with a smooth victory next time.

A likeable type with a good attitude and strong form at today’s track, the chestnut has bright prospects of outrunning her rating.

KENSINGTON LANE – ½ point each-way@7-1

3.12 CURRAGH

KING CUAN (best price 6-1) hasn’t had the bounce of the ball on his last two starts, the draw being responsibly for his defeats, but he has shown a significant amount of talent when trying to overcome adversity and he is worth another chance to prove he remains a decent prospect in this division.

At Tipperary last time out, over a track notorious for favouring the high drawn horses towards the stands side rail, he fared best of those who raced down the centre, and it was a similar situation at The Curragh previously, again doing well in the circumstances to salvage from being housed in stall 1 away from the main action.

On the evidence of that display at the Kildare venue, he has a reasonable chance of turning around the form with Vespertilio and My Mate Alfie and with the strong possibility the stands side being the best part of the track, his position from gate 10 should help him realise that view.

KING CUAN – 1-point each-way@6-1 (four places)
