DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 29

3.17 NOTTINGHAM

BEACH POINT (NAP) (best price 5-1) was heavily involved in the best race on the card here 21 days ago and with his data comparing favourable with the two ahead of him in today’s market, who raced in the three-year-old handicap over the same C&D, a chance is taken that William Knight’s can turn the market on its head.

The four-year-old has been a busy boy this season but his form towards the backend suggests he is not suffering from any burn out – quite the opposite in fact.

Although only fifth here last time out, he looked the most likely winner two out until wilting late on (made a big move in the hottest part of the race) and even in defeat his speed figure worked out the best he has achieved all season.

In today’s smaller, less competitive field, they are unlikely to go the sort of early gallop that sucked the life out of him at the business and, as a result, he should be a more potent force when the medals are being dished out this time around.

BEACH POINT – 1-point win@5-1

6.30 KEMPTON

The race won by Local Hero was noted for its very useful speed figure for the grade and COGITATE (best price 10-3) and BORGI (best price 13-2), the first two top fly the flag for the form a week on, are fancied to prove the data to be a reliable source moving forward.

The former was unlucky to bump into a well handicapped horse on his previous C&D spin and was well supported in his bid to go place better, however, after a slightly lethargic start, he could never get himself into a position where he was threatening the winner’s rostrum.

Settling for a respectable fourth, he did more than enough to suggest a reasonable level of faith can be afforded to him and providing he can be ridden more proactivity on his return visit, Charlie Hills’ inmate can end a slightly frustrating run of results.

The latter is certainly no cereal winner either, but if anything, he caught the eye even more here a week ago and, as a result, it would be churlish to let him go unbacked.

Dropped out by design from his high draw, Sean Woods’ inmate found himself in a hopeless position turning for home, but he managed to salvage something from the wreckage with a power-packed finish that carried him into a creditable third.

Caught out in a dash to the line against similar opposition previously, both runs suggest he isn’t too far away from the best of these if everything falls his way and he appears to be a smidge overpriced in relation Cogitate, track form and his speed figures.

COGITATE – 1-point win@10-3

BORGI – 1-point win@13-2
