DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
THURSDAY OCTOBER 30
6.00 SOUTHWELL
MORTE POINT (best price 11-4) arrives here in terrific shape courtesy of an authoritative success at Chelmsford and with the prospect of even more to come, the three-year-old gelding can strike again.
The son of Due Diligence had been in excellent form on the turf prior to his most recent encounter but it could be argued he was even more impressive than his two other previous victories given the way he hit the line.
One of his main attributes is his stride length and you could see how he used himself to get over the surface well at the Essex venue two weeks ago (7.72m).
If anything, tonight’s less deep surface, in theory, should suit him even better and providing he is within striking range of the main players turning for home, he is likely to prove an irresistible force once in full cry.
MORTE POINT – 1-point win@11-4
8.15 CHELMSFORD
WYLD BILL (NAP) (best price 3-1) is improving at a rapid rate of knots and with his resounding success here 14 days ago taking his C&D record to 2-2, Denis Quinn’s inmate receives the confident vote to keep those stats intact.
The introduction of blinkers seemed to have made all the difference to the son of Expert Eye and the way he powered clear in the closing stages off strong fractions on his most recent outing lays claim to that view.
On his previous outing at the Essex venue, he managed to come from along way back to pull the race from out of the fire and the only time he has slightly disappointed recently to a degree, was when he pulled too hard for his own good at Newcastle two starts ago.
Up to Class 5 grade now, he will have to raise his game to several accustomed to racing at this level but with the strong possibility the three-year-old grey hasn’t reached his ceiling yet, he can more than hold his own.
WYLD BILL – 1-point win@3-1
