DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

MONDAY NOVEMBER 3

5.45 SOUTHWELL

MOOJ (best price 3-1) shaped with a good degree of promise on her debut at Leicester 20 days ago and providing she adapts to this new surface at the first time of asking, Jack Jones’ inmate has bright prospects of capturing a race of this nature.

The main feature of the results at the Midland venue in recent times has been the dramatic shift in favour of those who race over towards the far side fence and the novice event won by Storm Esme proved no different.

The winner, with previous experience, was able to bag the far rail at a very early stage and made all the running, while the runner-up followed her through having tracked him throughout.

Therefore, the effort of Calyx filly in running widest of all down the middle of the track deserved to be upgraded and to finish a close-up third was about as good as she could be expected given the circumstances.

Likely to have learnt plenty from that initial outing, she has a much better draw from which to operate, and it would come as a major surprise if she wasn’t vying for top honours.

MOOJ – 1-point win@3-1

7.00 WOLVERHAMPTON

HOODIE HOO (NAP) (best price 7-2) hasn’t always been the most reliable of performers, but an all-weather surface has often brought the best out of him and following a useful effort at Southwell last time out, Charlie Hills’ inmate has reasonable prospects of adding to his previous C&D success – his only one so far to date.

The son of Hello Youmzain had a stinker of a draw to overcome at the Midland venue 11 days ago (12 of 12) and although he ultimately failed in his attempt to do so, to finish a close-up fourth wasn’t a bad effort under the circumstances.

Indeed, the way he hit the line strongly hinted he is arriving here in good shape, and it was a performance that took his all-weather record to 1244.

Impressive when making all the running on his only previous visit to tonight’s C&D as a juvenile, the three-year-old will prove a popular choice in his bid to maintain his perfect track record.
