DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

SUNDAY JANUARY 11

3.20 PUNCHESTOWN

The race won by Linden Arden here 11 days ago was notable for its decent time figure comparative to El Fabiolo (identical overall times and only 0.3 difference final circuit time) and having run well in defeat that day, SAN HILARIO (NAP) looks to have been presented with a good opportunity to go one place better.

Always handy at the Kildare track, the five-year-old held every chance off the home turn but he got rather stuck in a pocket as the eventual winner swept down the outside with a powerful surge and although he did his best to rally, the dye was cast.

However, it was another positive step in the right direction in his bid to finally shed his maiden tag and just on the data alone, it surely can’t be too long before he puts matters right.

Placed on all three starts since sporting cheekpieces, he ticks the boxes of holding solid C&D form and hailing from a stable who are going through a magic spell at present, which all adds up to make him a viable betting proposition down the front end of the market.

SAN HILARIO – 1-point win@3-1
