DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 11

2.38 DUNDALK

Tatateo clearly arrives here in good form having won convincingly over today’s C&D last week, but whether he deserves to be quite so short in the betting up against GALLO DEL CIELO is a moot point and preference at the prices lies at the feet of the latter.

Patrick Flynn’s gelding had roared back to form with a victory over 1m4f on his first outing for 56 days in December and trying two miles for the first time on most recent outing, he followed with an even more impressive performance.

In a race run at a decent gallop for the trip and grade, many of his rivals were flat to the boards coming out of the back straight but the six-year-old was able to breeze serenely to the front at the two-furlong pole and from that juncture he steadily drew clear.

Other than the favourite, he is up against the usual suspects on his return visit and with the association with his apprentice rider seen as a plus, the combination is fancied to continue from strength to strength.

GALLO DEL CIELO – 1-point each-way@9-2

4.38 DUNDALK

Beat The Devil has been slightly unlucky to only have one win to show for his endeavours in recent times, the draw often doing him little favours, but he looks a desperately short price for a horse not guaranteed to stay the trip and the vote goes in favour of TIMANDI, whose latest exploits look to be grossly undervalued.

Trying 1m4f for the first time here two starts ago, James Barratt’s filly made a bold bid for home halfway down the back straight when her pilot lost patience trying to settle her off a slow pace and, as a result, she unsurprisingly faded in the closing stages.

Back down in trip at the Co Lough venue last time out, she inexplicably flopped out of the stalls and found herself well behind early, but to her great credit, she not only worked herself back into a position of respectability turning for home, but her run was also sustained all the way to the line.

Since that effort 29 days ago, the form has been boosted by the runner-up, Mythical Rock, and providing she can exit the gates on terms this time around, the daughter of Camacho has decent claims of outrunning her morning odds.

TIMANDI – ½ point each-way@16-1 (four places)
