DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 27
3.12 LINGFIELD
The race which saw Diligent Harry and Completely Random dead heat here 27 days ago was noted for its very strong speed figure and with the former going on to advertise the strength of the form since, FERROUS rates a solid choice to follow suit.
Understandably, a little rusty in the early stages at the Surrey venue following a break of 134 days prior, Mick Channon’s inmate gradually warmed to his task and although he didn’t have the necessary requirements on the day to go with the two main players, he kept on well enough to finish a creditable fourth.
Shaping as though the run would do him the world of good, hopefully that will prove to be the case and now back into handicap company where he is only one of two C&D winners in the field, it would be a shock if he didn’t go close to adding to that tally.
FERROUS – 1-point win@11-4
5.30 DUNDALK
BREWING has been knocking at the door in recent times, and his rate of progression might be enough to tip the balance in favour of him over his old rival, Ocean Manifest, who beat him earlier in the winter campaign.
A slow burner since leaving William Haggas back in the UK for new connections, the seven-year-old first sprung to prominence when he was the medium of a gamble to land a competitive handicap over today’s C&D three starts ago and although he failed in his bid, he did more than enough to offer hope for the future.
Since then, two solid runner-up spots have ensued and with the latest of those performances coming courtesy of a brave effort to get the better of the strongly fancied and progressive Carolina Jetstream seven days ago, he easily holds the best form in his bid to go one place better.
Moreover, his wide draw in stall 13 a week ago caused him to see too much daylight and over race in the early stages but he now has a much kinder draw from which to work from and providing he gains some early cover, he should have the required oil in the tank to claim his seventh all-weather victory.
BREWING – 1-point win@10-3
