DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY MARCH 24

4.15 TAUNTON

Knock Off Soxs is likely to ensure this race is run at a sound clip and KHAFRE should turn out to be one of the chief beneficiaries.

Based on all known evidence, Knock Off Soxs will struggle to see out the 2m3f but the same can’t be said for Syd Hosie’s inmate, who was strong in the latter stages when scoring over today’s C&D last time out.

The six-year-old was up against a couple of useful types with strong form lines at the west country venue but he proved equal to the task when push came to shove in the final half a mile and if anything, he appeared to win with a good deal in hand.

If that theory turns out to be the case, an opening mark of 118 underestimates his capabilities and under similar conditions to what he faced 26 days ago, he should make a big impact on handicap debut.

KHAFRE – 1-point win@3-1

4.30 SOUTHWELL

The race won by Sherminator at Exeter last month was a strong one of its kind and maximum faith is put in MOAB upholding the form in the same way French Emperor did at Bangor over the weekend.

It looked a strong race on paper beforehand at the west country venue and it didn’t disappoint, with the speed figure putting an extra sprinkling of quality onto the form.

Towards the rear early, Henrietta Knight’s gelding was still in a poor position coming out of the back straight, so to end up finishing a never-nearer second was a fair effort under the circumstances.

On the evidence of that display and his performance at Huntingdon previously, the son of Camelot will appreciate a return to 2m4f and hailing from a stable who’s last two runners have both won, he can keep the ball rolling for the ex-Gold Cup-winning handler.

MOAB – 1-point win@11-4
