DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

WEDNESDAY MAY 6

2.55 KELSO

KILMORE ROCK arrives here in rude health following an all-the-way success over today’s C&D last time out and everything sets set fair for him to repeat the dose and duplicate his victory in this race last season.

Susan Corbett’s seven-year-old didn’t get everything his own way up front at the Borders venue but despite being swarmed by a whole host of challengers on the final circuit and turning for home, he managed to dig deep into his reserves and fend them all off for a game success.

Not only did he post the fastest speed figure on the seven race card, the son of Shirocco ran the final circuit quicker than the 2m2f handicap won by one of today’s major players, Rememberthename, and knowing how well he seems to thrive at this time of year on good ground, it will take a decent one to stop him from relinquishing the lead.

KILMORE ROCK – 1-point win@3-1

4.45 CHESTER

If ARCTIC THUNDER didn’t have any bad luck last season he wouldn’t have had any luck at all and Ed Walker’s inmate is fancied to catch a break on his second start to this term.

The five-year-old first caught the eye when getting a desperate trip in a warm Haydock handicap last September and things didn’t exactly pan out his favour in a similar contest at Newbury next time out.

Faring best of those drawn high on his next start at Leicester, he did as well as could be expected under the circumstances and wrapped up for the season thereafter, he came back to the fray over an inadequate trip at Newbury.

Once again, he failed to receive the clearest of runs at the Berkshire track, but at least the outing served the purpose of blowing away the dust off the shelves over an inadequate trip and with today’s likely strong pace and sharp nature of the track set to suit, the son of Night Of Thunder would only need the rub of the green to feature such his natural ability.

ARCTIC THUNDER – 1-point each-way@5-1 (five places)

MAJESTIC MOMENT lived up to his named not only on his seaosnal bow at Exeter two starts ago, but on his latest display over today’s C&D last time out and with the form/speed figures of both races working out a treat since, the seven-year-old can complete the hat trick.

The Imperial Monarch gelding beat yesterday’s Ffos Las winner, Loki’s Mischief, with a bit to spare at the west country venue and proving that 16-1 victory was no fluke, he dished out another sound beating to rivals here a few weeks later, in turn, clocking another good time.

A smooth traveller and a sound jumper, clearly these sort of surfaces at this time of year suit and unless he completely runs out of character, he will be hard to stop on his return visit.

MAJESTIC MOMENT – 1-point win@11-4
