DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING
MONDAY JUNE 29
4.30 PONTEFRACT
If you are a glass half empty kind of person, QUEEN SANA might not necessarily be for you, having finished second five times in her career but if you are a more upbeat sort of character, Ollie Sangster’s filly is worth another chance to see whether she can finally shed her maiden tag.
Her defeat at the hands of Noble Vow two starts ago is easily explainable with her conqueror going on to win again and pick up a revised rating of 82 and here over the C&D last time out, she did nothing wrong but was just floored by a horse who obtained first run and maintained a strong gallop all the way to the line.
Indeed, the speed figure she collected on her way for finishing second for the three time in succession was by some way a career high and proving she can run as quick on her return visit, she sets the standard the rest of the field must match.
QUEEN SANA – 1-point win@7-2
4.40 STRATFORD
BASILETTE was a shade disappointing on the flat at Bath last time out but casting that run aside, her record over today’s track over hurdles is enough to forgive her that uncharacteristic blip and make her the standout bet at the morning odds.
Four times Seamus Mullins’ mare has shipped up at the Midland circuit, and she has finished no worse than fourth, with the most recent of her visits resulted in a career high effort on the figures.
That victory was over and extended 2m2f, but she has twice finished runner-up over the C&D and with conditions to suit, her love affair with her happy hunting ground looks set to continue.
BASILETTE – ½ point each-way@8-1 (four places)
