DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY JULY 7

2.30 UTTOXETER

KARNAVAL POINT couldn’t quite follow up his previous victory at Worcester over today’s C&D last time out but the speed figure he produced in defeat was at least as good and returning to the Midland venue should heighten his senses enough for him to rebound back in the right direction.

Having his first start for new connections since leaving his native France, the six-year-old accounted for prolific point scorer Jet Smart and subsequent winner Country Park in tidy fashion and based on the visual impression he created along with the speed figure he posted, it was easy to see why he was fancied in many quarters to repeat the dose two weeks later.

Unfortunately, the son of Grand Pretender came up a little short on the day but in mitigation, he was pushed to the limit by trying to match motors with the front-running Wheresmemoneygone in the final half a mile and the pair ended up softening each other up for Immortal Fame to come gliding through to pick their pockets.

Given time to recover from that bruising encounter, he returns to the scene of that effort up against opponents of a slightly lesser stature based on recent form and he rates a strong choice to repay his supporters’ trust.
