DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY AUGUST 11

7.15 NOTTINGHAM

Calendar Girl was a welcome winner for the Owen Burrows stable at Haydock on Saturday and although we are talking of a massive difference in ability where DIANE CHASSERESSE is concerned, small fish can taste equally sweet for those prepared to side with a filly who could easily prove way ahead of her mark.

Whether she has been purposely trained with handicaps in mind is hard to tell, especially from a yard with traditionally larger fish to fry, but she was undoubtedly prevented from showing her true worth on her most recent outing at Windsor and to walk away from those exploits with an opening rating of 63 could well turn out to be a gift.

Held up towards the rear at the Berkshire venue, she was noted going well approaching two but from that juncture she constantly kept getting her face slapped when trying to extricate herself from a pocket and in the end, she had to settle for a mid-division role.

She did, however, finish full of running and with today’s extra yardage likely to see her in an even more favourable light, a view backed up by her max stride length of 8.26 and cadence of 2.14, the daughter of Havana Grey can prove an instant hit in this sphere.

8.15 NOTTINGHAM

THUNDEROUS LOVE has an overall record over today’s venue to suggest she has a preference to the track like no other and this dual C&D winner can keep her current stats that read 1312, intact.

An instant hit on her first visit to the Midland venue, she duly followed up with her second success two months later and there was no shame in being beaten into second by Novello Lad when last seen here.

Taking a while to find top form so far this term, she gave out more positive signs with a decent effort at Salisbury last time out and providing today’s jockey switch, Rob Hornby, can delay his run on the mare a little later than Olivia Tubb did 17 days ago, there is every chance she can gain her first success of the season.
