There was plenty to like about the way MAXIMISING got the job done on soft ground at Windsor last time out and with similar conditions set fair here this afternoon, the long trip up north will hopefully be a rewarding one for Kevin Philippart De Foy’s charge.
The son of Circus Maximus had only previously raced on turf twice prior to facing the starter at the Berkshire venue and had never encountered soft ground before but despite heading into to the complete unknown, he came away from the race 22 days ago with a whole new aspect to his game.
Staying on extremely strongly in the latter stages of a well-run affair, the four-year-old posted a very smart speed figure for the grade and conditions and even with the mandatory rise in the ratings, he still looks south of his true worth.

NAP HAND may have been the beneficiary of favourable track position over the large majority of his rivals at Perth last time out but at the same time, his victory was no fluke based on some of his previous data and Chris Gordon’s gelding is fancied to press home that view back at a course where he has gone well in the past.
The six-year-old had been well beaten by the progressive Filibustering at Cartmel on his first run for his new stable back in June but once gaining a big advantage in the early stages over his old rival at the Scottish venue last time out, he never looked like being pegged back after two out.
Runner-up in this race last season when trained by Alan King, ironically beaten by one of his stable mates, Aucunrisque, the son of Fast Company arrives here in similar shape in his bid to go one place better and with Edelak likely to provide him with a solid guide to aim at, he can prove a hit with the locals.
