DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 13

3.00 SALISBURY

The small stable of Joe Tickle has had three winners from just six runners in the last fortnight – an impressive set of results by anyone’s standards – and one of those who helped that tally, GLADAIDORA (best price 4-1), looks booked to keep up the general theme in this low-grade handicap.

Still a maiden heading into her most recent assignment, the daughter of Churchill was well supported to make that crucial breakthrough and up against a trio of three-year-olds she ended up making light work of the task at hand, ultimately pulling well clear in the closing stages to score by five widening lengths.

Despite there only being four runners at the Somerset venue, the time figure she produced suggested they had gone a decent clip and with the turn of foot she exhibited on the firm ground the key feature to her success, similar conditions here today provide her with the ideal platform to repeat the dose.

7.45 KEMPTON

KING OF FURY (best price 11-2) clearly loves it here, as form figures of 3311 testify, and Michael Dods’ inmate is fancied to uphold those impressive stats on his return visit.

It is not just here at the Sunbury venue where the five-year-old chestnut excels, most of his best performances have tended to come on an all-weather surface and you only have to go back as recently as June to find his latest success.

Bidding to make all that day, the son of Starspangledbanner looked sure to get swamped inside the final two furlongs when three rivals converged on him from behind but to his great credit, he dug in deep to find extra reserves and in the end, he somehow managed to keep them all at bay.

Just as gutsy in victory at Southwell three months earlier, he clearly doesn’t mind getting down and dirty and with a likely positive ride ensuing from stall 3, he can take his all-weather record to four wins in seven starts.
