DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 22

2.10 LEICESTER

Not a race to set the pulses racing but SHARK TWO ONE (best price 10-3), with C&D figures that read 1331, could well turn out to be the answer.

Victorious on his first visit to the Midland venue back in 2023, Jessia Macey’s gelding added to his tally in a classified contest here back in June, posting a smart speed figure for the grade in the process, and he wasn’t too far away on his most recent assignment on his return visit two starts ago.

Outpaced coming down the hill at Chepstow last time out, he did keep on well in the closing stages to make the best of a bad job and now returning to his happy hunting ground with a profile to suggest he is likely to run his race more than most, the seven-year-old receives the nod.

SHARK TWO ONE – 1-point win@10-3

4.35 FAIRYHOUSE

ROSATO (best price 9-1) has shaped on her last two outing as if a step up in trip might be more beneficial and she is worth a small interest at the morning prices to back up that view.

At The Curragh on her penultimate outing, she fared best of those racing down the middle of the course on a day where the tack bias played into the hands of the high numbers and for the second time in succession, she came out on the worse side of the draw at Cork last time out.

Keeping on strongest of all up the stands side rail at the Mallow venue, Charles Weld’s filly came nicely clear of those draw high but, on this occasion, she found herself someway behind three who had slipped the field over towards the other side of the course.

The way she came home, however, suggested she remains in the sort of form that saw her win in game fashion at Naas back in August and providing she handles today’s round track as well as she does a straight course, the daughter of Raven’s Pass will hopefully be more competitive than her odds suggest.

ROSATO – ½ point each-way@9-1 (five places)
