DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 26

1.50 NEWMARKET

The middle-distance filly’s category has been as difficult to predict as the sprinting division this season and working on the basis that the current wellbeing and reliability of a horse rather than its rating is the key component; MISS JUSTICE (best price 9-1) is the one who makes the most appeal using that ideology.

John & Thady Gosden’s inmate cut a frustrating figure in the early part of the season, finishing runner-up three times on the spin, but she finally gained due rewards for her consistency at Southwell on the all-weather two starts ago, proving that 1m4f was well withing her range.

Despite dropping back in trip and upped in class at Salisbury last time out, it was her stamina that enabled her to gain the day over several higher rated fillies such as Revoir and Ambiente Amigo and with the time figure speaking very favourable of her performance, she arrives here with brighter prospects than her odds suggest.

MISS JUSTICE – 1-point each-way@9-1 (four places)

2.42 WORCESTER

The finale of the summer fixed brush series and DREAM DIAMOND (best price 7-2), who created a favourable impression both visually and, on the clock, when winning on his UK debut here last time out, rates a strong choice to provide his handler with yet another high profile jumps winner.

Having his first start since leaving his Irish base, James Owen’s inmate was strongly fancied to tread a similar path many new recruits entering the yard for the first time and true to form, he duly landed the skinny odds without too much fuss.

What looked a mandatory success, however, was backed up by a very useful speed figure for a race of its kind and it was noticeable his performance was by some way the quickest of those racing on the hurdles course that day.

Considering the levels he ran to a month ago, he did extremely to have his rating almost unblemished and with today’s step up in trip likely to induce further improvement, the son of Diamond Boy can justify his position in the market.

DREAM DIAMOND – 1-point win@7-2

2.50 HAYDOCK

The market seems to have gone cuckoo where Monarch’s Gold is concerned and the undoubted value here lies at the feet of NIGHT MISSION (best price 5-2).

An 80-1 poke on his debut here earlier in the month, those odds would have traded a good deal bigger after a furlong when he jumped to his left leaving the stalls, in the process, losing considerable ground.

However, he did manage to work himself into a position where he had some sort of chance approaching the final furlong and although ultimately no match for the winner, Division, he did stay on best of the rest to finish a promising second.

Indeed, his final three furlongs was only 0.3 slower than a horse who has not only won since but is regarded as a type who could easily take high rank in pattern company next time and considering how green he was in achieving that sort of data, it all bodes well for future assignments.

Drawn in stall one today, he can ill afford to lose ground again diving to his left again but providing he does run straight and true, Mark Rimell’s inmate can put his C&D knowledge to good use.

NIGHT MISSION – 1-point win@5-2
