DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 10

2.35 AYR

WHATYOUHAVE shaped better than the bare result suggested over today’s course last time out and despite being up against several contenders from powerful stables, Nick Alexander’s inmate might be capable of punching above his weight.

In a race that was noted for its strong pace from the outset, the son of Soldier Of Fortune impressed with the way he travelled to the top of the home straight and although he couldn’t quite match the likes of Sanilam, Wilstar and Like Minded, he did keep on willingly for fifth.

Stepping up in trip today in a slight unknown but it is hard to see him coming out of his comfort zone until at least two miles and at the morning odds, a chance is taken in him having sufficient reserves left in the tank.

WHATYOUHAVE – ½ point each-way@22-1

The race won by Meetmebythesea over today’s C&D was noted for its strong speed figure and, having played a significant part in ensuring the number was so high, FROM THE CLOUDS is fancied to take advantage of a more leisurely set of opponents.

Setting a fair pace from the outset at the Scottish venue, the nine-year-old was still playing the role of the pied piper as the field turned for home and although he couldn’t fend off the main players at the business end, to only get beaten five lengths by two horses rated in the high 130’s was still deemed a useful effort.

So far, the form hasn’t had a chance to properly breath as Dedicated Hero unseated rider at the first at Mu8sselburgh next time, Meetmebythesea was having a float around in the Game Spirit with a view to keeping his handicap mark down for the Jack Richards and Fingal Bridge went back over hurdles at Warwick (finished second).

The only negative comes from the fact his yard has been quiet since the turn of the year, but these matters have a habit of changing very quickly and Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore’s inmate can hopefully start the trend shifting in the other direction.

FROM THE CLOUDS – 1-point each-way@5-1

3.48 LINGFIELD

WYLD BILL must re-enter the fray after a mini break, which isn’t always ideal, but providing he is in somewhere near the same level of form when he left off, Denis Quinn’s inmate can continue his progressive profile.

When last seen, the five-year-old toughed it out to get the better of a three-way finished at Kempton and the speed figure he posted in victory worked out as a career high.

Prior to that notable success, he was super impressive over today’s C&D to the tune of 13 lengths and a return to the scene of that romp should not do his credentials any harm.

WYLD BILL – 1-point each-way@4-1
