Daily Racing Preview by Andy Holding

The seven furlong maiden fought out by BOBBY MCGEE and JAMESTOWN at Gowran earlier this month was noted for its very useful speed for a race of its type and one of the pair, if not both, could easily be good enough to have a huge say on handicap debut if running to a similar standard.
The former came out on top at the Kenny venue but not by an insurmountable distance and his victory was probably to do with superior experience rather than having a huge amount more natural ability.
That said, it was his first outing following a lengthy absence, post gelding operation, and he looks the type who should continue to improve.
Handed a mark of 77, which could have been a whole lot worse, it would be something of a surprise if Noel Meade’s inmate wasn’t involved.

The latter was only having his second career start 19 days ago and it was another step in the right direction having also shaped well on his debut at Dundalk.
Unlike his old rival, David Marnane’s gelding didn’t receive the smoothest of passages over towards the far rail until getting out too late, but his final furlong work was encouraging enough to offer plenty of hope for the future.
A nice type with the potential for further improvement for tonight’s mile, the son of Ulysses makes plenty of appeal off an opening mark of 75.
