DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

MONDAY JUNE 15

2.55 CHEPSTOW

TALL TREES was as green as The Hulk on her debut at Newbury and hailing from a trainer whose juveniles often improve significantly for a run, Brian Meehan’s filly is fancied to find the necessary step forward to be more effective second time around.

Sent off 40-1 alongside many with high reputations at the Berkshire venue, the daughter of Showcasing languished in the rear in the early exchanges unable to go the gallop after a tardy start (jumped out to the right at stalls exit), but in the latter part of the race, she all of a sudden realised her potential by coming home with plenty of purpose.

Hitting the line hard, she left the impression she was the one to take out of the race of the vanquished, and likely to be more aware of her surroundings here today, she can turn around the tables with her old rival, Eabha.

TALL TREES – 1-point win@9-4

3.20 CARLISLE

BANDERAS arrives here off the back of a career high performance on the figures over hurdles and he is fancied to back up that effort at a track that witnessed him triumph on the flat last July.

Stepping up in trip at the Borders venue, the six-year-old was given plenty of time to ease his way into the race and those patient tactics worked out a treat, as he came storming through in the final half a mile to score going away.

Posting a big number for the grade, Sam England’s gelding returns to the level off what appears an attractive mark and providing he can ease his way into the pack early from his wide draw, the rest should take care of itself.

BANDERAS – 1-point win@5-2

4.33 CHEPSTOW

TOO MUCH TREVOR did plenty wrong when scoring over today’s C&D last time out and with that in mind, he probably has more to play with than his reassessment suggests on his return visit.

In-keeping with most of his previous outings, Grace Harris’ gelding dwelt coming out of the stalls at the Wesh track and considering he was dropping back in trip, it was ground he could ill afford to lose.

To his great credit, he managed to work his way back into a position of strength two out and from that juncture, he kept on well to record a deserved success.

Add into the mix the fact he gave away ground by drifting over towards the far aside rail and his performance was better than the bare result suggested and even though many will fancy runner-up, Punchbowl Flyer, to turn around the form, they might be in for a rude awakening.

TOO MUCH TREVOR – 1-point win@5-2

5.12 KILBEGGAN

GAELIC ARC had his foot on the head of all his rivals when making all the running for a convincing success at Punchestown last time out and if allowed the luxury of an uncontested lead again, John Ryan’s gelding could well be the answer to this tricky puzzle.

His victory nine days ago wouldn’t be the first time he has totally bossed a race from the start and the time figure he posted was right up there with one of his best efforts in his career.

Moreover, the 10-year-old has replicated something similar around today’s track in the past and he looks set fair to give another solid account if the first mile of the contest goes his way.

GAELIC ARC – ½ point each-way@12-1 (four places)
