DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY MARCH 3

1.55 LEOPARDSTOWN

Generous Risk has run well in some decent bumpers and is a nice prospect moving forward and so to is Le Moulin Rouge, who bumped into a good one here at the Christmas meeting, but JET TO MONTE CARLO looks to have been slightly overlooked despite running a big number in defeat at Thurles last time out and he rates the value choice.

Emmet Mullins’ inmate was a bit disappointing on his first two starts over hurdles but he showed more of his capabilities at Thurles last time out behind Laurets D’Estruval, who looks a horse destined for big things.

Always to the fore at the Tipperary venue, the son of Jet Away helped force a pace that was to eventually generate a big speed figure and although he couldn’t match the winner from the back of the second last, he kept on well to finish a respectable runner-up.

Since that solid effort, the third, Playtime, bolted up here yesterday to shine a light on the form and with the potential of more to come over further, today’s extra half a mile should see him to best advantage.

JET TO MONTE CARLO – 1-point win@5-2

5.25 WOLVERHAMPTON

SHRIMP SHADY may have disappointed his supporters as a short-priced favourite over today’s course last time out but the speed figure and subsequent form of those involved suggested there should be no shame attached to his effort and Andrew Balding’s inmate is well worth another chance to recoup losses.

You could look at his run at the Dunstall venue 25 days ago and cite he didn’t stay the 1m4f, but it was probably more to do with the fact he was up against decent opponents who maintained a strong gallop throughout, and it wasn’t as if he was beaten far in any case.

Certainly, connections clearly think it wasn’t the trip that caused his downfall, upping him extra two furlongs on his return visit and now back down to Class 4 level, he should find life a good deal more serene.
